First, make it safe

1. Flames or smoke: get everyone out and call 911.
2. A power line down: stay well away from it and call 911 and your electric utility.
3. If you can reach the panel safely, switch off the breaker for the affected circuit, or the main breaker. Do not touch a panel that is wet, hot or sparking.
4. Leave a tripping breaker off. A breaker that trips again right after a reset is doing its job. Do not keep resetting it.

Is it the utility, or your wiring?

If the whole street is dark, the outage is on the utility's side. Report it to Tucson Electric Power or Trico Electric Cooperative, whichever serves your address.

If only your building is out, or only part of it, the problem is most likely in your own panel or wiring. The utility looks after its lines and the meter. The panel and the wiring past the meter belong to the owner, and that is the part we repair.
