Electrical panel upgrades in Marana and Tucson

Panel replacements and service upgrades for homes and businesses, sized by a load calculation so the new equipment fits what the building actually draws.

Signs a panel needs attention

  • Breakers trip often, or will not reset
  • Lights dim when the air conditioner or another large appliance starts
  • The panel feels warm, hums, or shows rust or scorch marks
  • There are no open spaces left for a new circuit
  • The home still has a fuse box, or a 60-amp or 100-amp service
  • You are adding a large load: an EV charger, a heat pump, a spa, an addition

Older panels worth replacing

Federal Pacific Stab-Lok and Zinsco panels were installed in many homes from the 1950s into the 1980s. Both are widely reported to have breakers that can fail to trip during an overload. If your home has one, it is worth having it looked at.

What a panel upgrade involves

  1. Load calculation. We add up what the home or building draws now and what you plan to add, to size the new panel and service.
  2. Permit and utility coordination. A panel replacement requires a permit, and the utility has to disconnect and reconnect power at the service.
  3. Replacement. The old panel comes out and the new panel, breakers, grounding and bonding go in.
  4. Inspection. The building department inspects the work before power is restored for good.

New panel, or a larger service?

Sometimes the service is big enough and only the panel is worn out or full. Other times the service itself is too small, and the upgrade means moving from 100 amps to 200 amps. The load calculation tells us which, so you only pay for what the building needs.

Planning for what comes next

If an EV charger, a remodel or new equipment is on the way, tell us. It is far cheaper to size the panel for it now than to upgrade twice.
